Nature can provides us with some of our most memorable and powerful experiences; listening to the waves on a rocky shore, hiking a mountain trail, kayaking along a riverbank, tending a garden, or watching sparks of a fire shoot up into the dark sky. Throw open the door of understanding and discover your creative voice while uncovering the natural world and its hidden secrets. We will make use of free-writing as a way to access the place of inspiration. Explore whatever written form you wish to pursue; journal writing, poetry, or memoir. Learn to expand your writing using different prompts such as short meditations, photos, mementos, and poems
to help get us started. You will receive respectful listening and careful feedback in a nonjudgmental atmosphere. Please bring your creative ideas and a notebook and pen (or laptops). We'll take a 45 minute break for lunch, so bring a bag lunch to class.

"After all, anything could happen
at the edge...Just as London said,
the northern lights flickered under greenish-purple curtains draping the heavens, giving legitimacy to our fantasies."
